Azerbaijan's Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector recorded a growth of approximately 8.5 percent last year, while the transport sector expanded by 5 percent, according to official government figures.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Minister of Digital Development and Transport Rashad Nabiyev announced these figures during a meeting chaired by President Ilham Aliyev. The session was dedicated to the unified action plan titled "Azerbaijan's New Digital Architecture," focusing on the nation's technological transformation.
"As you have rightly emphasized, the digital economy is already surpassing the traditional economy globally. We expect the additional value created by artificial intelligence to reach approximately 16 trillion US dollars by 2030," Minister Nabiyev stated, underlining the strategic importance of modernizing Azerbaijan's digital infrastructure.
The development of the ICT sector remains a top priority for the Republic of Azerbaijan as part of its broader economic diversification strategy. By investing in digital architecture and high-tech solutions, Azerbaijan aims to reduce its reliance on traditional energy exports and position itself as a regional technological hub. The government's focus on "New Digital Architecture" aligns with global trends in automation and data-driven governance, ensuring the country's competitiveness in the evolving global market.
