The minimum wage in Azerbaijan will be reviewed at least once a year following the adoption of new legislative amendments.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, this provision was included in the draft law on amendments to the Labor Code, which was discussed and subsequently approved during today's session of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly).
Under the new legislation, the minimum wage threshold will be reassessed at least once per year by the relevant executive authorities based on proposals submitted by designated government bodies. Following extensive discussions in the parliament, the document was put to a vote and officially adopted.
This legislative shift is part of a broader social reform strategy implemented in Azerbaijan to enhance the social welfare of the population. In recent years, President Ilham Aliyev has prioritized the systematic increase of the minimum wage and social benefits to align with the country's economic growth and to protect citizens against global inflationary pressures. The establishment of a mandatory annual review mechanism is expected to provide greater economic security and ensure that the labor market remains responsive to changing living standards in the Republic.
