Azerbaijan Population Reaches 10.26 Million, Official Data Shows

Azerbaijan's population increased by 34,812 people, or 0.3 percent, during the first eleven months of 2025, reaching a total of 10,259,701 as of December 1. Operative Information Center-OMM reports that these figures were released by the State Statistical Committee in its latest macroeconomic publication covering the country's economic and social development.

According to the official statistics, 54.4 percent of the population resides in urban areas, while 45.6 percent live in rural districts. The gender distribution remains nearly equal, with men accounting for 49.8 percent and women making up 50.2 percent of the total population in Azerbaijan.

Marriage and Divorce Rates Decline

During the period of January–November, registration departments of the Ministry of Justice recorded 44,996 marriages and 18,832 divorces. Data from the State Statistical Committee indicates a slight downward trend compared to the same period in 2024; the number of marriages per 1,000 people fell from 4.9 to 4.8, while the divorce rate decreased from 2.1 to 2.0.

Birth Rate Trends and Demographics

A total of 88,135 births were recorded in Azerbaijan during the first eleven months of 2025. The birth rate per 1,000 people saw a decline to 9.4, compared to 10.1 during the corresponding period in 2024. Of the newborns, 53.1 percent were boys and 46.9 percent were girls. The statistics also highlighted 2,930 sets of twins and 93 sets of triplets born during this timeframe.

Economic Growth: Nominal Income Rises by 8 Percent

The State Statistical Committee further reported that the nominal income of the population in 2025 grew by 8 percent year-on-year, reaching 89.916 billion manats. The average per capita income stood at 8,777.6 manats, while disposable income reached 79.945 billion manats. This economic growth reflects the ongoing diversification of the national economy and social welfare programs implemented by the government.

Mortality Statistics

The country recorded 54,582 deaths between January and November. Official data shows that the mortality rate per 1,000 people rose slightly from 5.7 in the previous year to 5.8 in 2025.

These annual reports serve as a vital tool for the Cabinet of Ministers and other state institutions to monitor the implementation of socio-economic development programs and to shape future national policy.
