Azerbaijan Airlines CJSC (AZAL) is set to resume direct flights from Baku to Nakhchivan starting March 9, following a temporary suspension of the route.
The national carrier informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that the Baku-Nakhchivan-Baku flight schedule has been reinstated for March 9, 2026. Starting from March 10, 2026, flights to the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic will return to their regular, full-scale operational status.
"AZAL continues to monitor the current situation closely and is taking all necessary measures to ensure flight safety. Passengers will be promptly informed of any further changes to the flight schedule," the airline stated in an official announcement. The company emphasized that the safety of passengers and crew remains the highest priority during all flight operations.
The temporary suspension occurred on March 5, when all scheduled flights on the Baku-Nakhchivan-Baku route were canceled due to drone attacks launched from the territory of the Islamic Republic of Iran targeting civilian infrastructure in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan. Nakhchivan, an exclave of Azerbaijan, relies heavily on air travel and transit routes for connectivity with the rest of the country. The restoration of these flights is a critical step in maintaining the transport security and mobility of the region's population.
