Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump have held a telephone conversation to discuss strategic bilateral relations and pressing international developments.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Turkish Presidential Administration released an official statement regarding the high-level exchange. During the call, both leaders exchanged views on the current state of Turkey-US relations, as well as various regional and global issues of mutual concern.
President Erdogan emphasized that Turkey is closely monitoring the evolving situation in Syria, underscoring that the unity, solidarity, and sovereignty of the country remain top priorities for Ankara. The discussion also touched upon the ongoing fight against ISIS and the status of ISIS members currently held in detention facilities across Syrian territory. The Turkish leader noted that a stable, peaceful Syria, free from the threat of terrorism, would significantly contribute to regional security.
The conversation further focused on diplomatic efforts to ensure peace in Gaza. President Erdogan stated that Turkey continues to act in coordination with the United States in this direction. Additionally, Recep Tayyip Erdogan expressed his gratitude to US President Donald Trump for the invitation to the Gaza Peace Council.
