US President Donald Trump has sharply criticized the role of the United Nations (UN) in the process of settling international conflicts.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing RIA Novosti, that the President highlighted a perceived lack of involvement by the global body in peace processes. President Trump stated that the international organization failed to provide assistance or participate in any of the conflicts that were brought to a halt during his leadership.
“Take all the wars I ended. The UN didn't help me in any of them,”
he emphasized. These comments come amid long-standing discussions regarding the efficiency of the UN's current structure. Previously, reports surfaced regarding potential plans by the US administration to explore the creation of a new international organization as an alternative to the United Nations to better address global security needs.
The United Nations, established in 1945 to maintain international peace and security, has frequently faced calls for reform from various member states. Critics often point to the organization's inability to enforce resolutions and its bureaucratic complexities as major hurdles in modern diplomacy. Azerbaijan, which joined the UN in 1992, has also emphasized the importance of the organization's role in upholding international law and ensuring the territorial integrity of sovereign states, particularly in the context of regional stability in the South Caucasus.
