Ararat Mirzoyan Türkiyə ilə münasibətlərin normallaşmasından danışdı

The process of normalizing relations between Armenia and Turkey continues, with expectations for significant progress in the near future.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan addressed the status of these diplomatic efforts during a joint committee session of the National Assembly regarding the 2025 state budget execution report.

The minister noted that dialogue between the two nations is ongoing across various formats, with active engagement at the working group level. "Our dialogue with Turkey is continuing. Meetings of the working group established for the restoration of the Gyumri–Kars railway have taken place, alongside other contacts," Mirzoyan stated.

Mirzoyan expressed optimism regarding the trajectory of these talks, emphasizing that tangible results could be achieved in the short term. "We believe that in the very near future, we will achieve significant progress in terms of the full normalization of our relations with Turkey," the minister added. He also acknowledged that while direct trade between the two countries currently exists, it is still largely facilitated through third-party nations.

The normalization process between Armenia and Turkey is a critical geopolitical issue in the South Caucasus. Historically, the two countries have lacked diplomatic relations and maintained a closed border since the early 1990s. Recent efforts to thaw these relations are viewed by international observers as a potential catalyst for broader regional stability, particularly following the resolution of the conflict in the Garabagh region, which has fundamentally altered the security architecture of the South Caucasus.
