Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has declared that achieving a ceasefire in Lebanon is a decisive condition for holding negotiations with the United States.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this information was shared on the "X" social network by Axios journalist Barak Ravid, citing sources.
According to the reports, Araghchi is planning a trip to Switzerland to engage in talks with the US; however, the situation remains fluid and depends on whether Israel and Lebanon can successfully reach a ceasefire agreement.
Sources speaking to Ravid emphasized that the Iranian side is insisting on a cessation of military operations in Lebanon as a prerequisite before proceeding with the planned visit to Switzerland.
Previously, it was reported that the US delegation in these negotiations would be represented by the special envoy of US President Donald Trump, Steve Witkoff, and the American leader's son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
These diplomatic efforts highlight the ongoing regional instability in the Middle East, where the United States is actively engaged in mediation to prevent further escalation between Israel and Hezbollah. The involvement of high-level envoys underscores the strategic importance Washington places on stabilizing the Lebanese border region.
