Amazon has suspended operations with Miami-based cargo carrier 21 Air. The decision was made as investigations continue into a flight operated for Amazon Air that crashed at Miami International Airport, killing five people.
Amazon spokesperson Kelly Nantel said the company had spent the past week reviewing the circumstances surrounding the crash. In comments to Reuters, she said Amazon would continue supporting the investigation and those affected by the incident.
The crash occurred during Flight 7598, operated by 21 Air for Amazon Air. According to officials, the aircraft veered off the runway while landing at Miami International Airport and struck several vehicles on the ground.
Investigators examine final moments of crash
The US National Transportation Safety Board, which is investigating the incident, said the pilots had considered aborting the landing after the aircraft touched down. According to the board, one of the pilots said the aircraft was moving “very fast” slightly more than a minute before landing.
Investigators reached the conclusion based on information recovered from the flight data recorder. The crashed Boeing 767-300 freighter was 32 years old. According to Flightradar24, the aircraft was used as a passenger plane by several airlines between 1994 and 2015.

The aircraft was making its third flight of the day when it crashed. It had first flown from Cincinnati to Miami and then from Miami to San Juan, Puerto Rico. The plane was returning from San Juan when the fatal crash occurred.
21 Air said it continued to cooperate with the investigation and support those affected by the crash. The company said it was confident in its safety policies, procedures and training.
