Azerbaijan achieved peace with Armenia after insisting on the absence of mediators, President Ilham Aliyev said during his speech at the opening ceremony of the XIII Global Baku Forum.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of state emphasized the effectiveness of direct dialogue between the two nations. "The Minsk Group's 28 years of so-called mediation ended in failure. The co-chairs' goal was to freeze the conflict, preserve it forever, and use it as a tool of pressure on both countries. Therefore, we decided to reject this 'mediation.' As soon as we started a direct bilateral dialogue without third parties, we achieved peace. This is not a theory—it is our real experience. Therefore, I think this issue will definitely be taken into account in attempts to resolve other conflicts," the president noted.
The Global Baku Forum, organized by the Nizami Ganjavi International Center, has become a significant international platform for discussing global challenges, security, and peace-building. The XIII edition of the forum brings together world leaders, former heads of state, and international experts to address pressing geopolitical issues. Azerbaijan's successful restoration of its territorial integrity and the subsequent shift toward direct diplomatic engagement with Armenia are frequently cited at the forum as a new model for regional conflict resolution, emphasizing national sovereignty and bilateral accountability over external intervention.
