The Speaker of the Armenian National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, is planning an official visit to the Russian Federation to discuss bilateral relations and inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Speaker shared this information during a statement to journalists. Simonyan noted that the visit will take place at the invitation of the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation, Valentina Matviyenko. While the exact dates of the trip are currently being finalized, preparatory processes are already underway.
The Speaker emphasized that the upcoming visit is reciprocal in nature and holds official status, serving as a response to Valentina Matviyenko's previous visit to Yerevan. It should be recalled that the Chairwoman of the Federation Council of Russia had earlier led a large delegation to Armenia to strengthen ties between the legislative bodies of the two nations.
Inter-parliamentary diplomacy remains a key component of regional political engagement, often serving as a platform for addressing economic, security, and humanitarian issues. Such high-level exchanges are standard practice in maintaining diplomatic channels and coordinating legislative frameworks between partner states in the post-Soviet space.
