The United States will continue to provide military assistance to Ukraine until a formal peace agreement is reached.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Matthew Whitaker, the US Permanent Representative to NATO, made this statement during an interview with the Newsmax television channel. He emphasized that Washington remains committed to ensuring Ukraine has the necessary resources to defend its sovereignty throughout the negotiation process.
According to Whitaker, Washington will continue the sale and transfer of weaponry to NATO allies, with these supplies primarily designated for delivery to Ukraine until a lasting peace settlement is secured. The envoy specified that the support includes both advanced air defense systems and offensive weaponry required for ongoing combat operations. "Because it is precisely this strength that will ultimately ensure peace, so that after the war ends, the European continent does not face a new invasion," the permanent representative emphasized.
The announcement comes amid broader discussions regarding European security and defense capabilities. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte previously noted that three to four years of conflict in Ukraine have significantly depleted the weapon stockpiles of many European nations. This situation has necessitated a greater reliance on the industrial capacity and existing reserves of the United States to maintain a credible deterrent on the continent. Under the leadership of US President Donald Trump, the administration continues to evaluate the strategic balance of military aid to ensure regional stability and the protection of allied interests.
