The United States Southern Command (SOUTHCOM) has carried out a kinetic strike against a vessel suspected of being utilized by narcotics traffickers in the Eastern Pacific Ocean.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the operation was confirmed in an official statement released by the U.S. Southern Command.
"Under the direction of SOUTHCOM Commander Francis Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear delivered a lethal strike against the vessel on April 14," the command stated. Intelligence reports confirmed that the ship was navigating established drug smuggling routes in the Eastern Pacific and was actively being used for illicit narcotics trade. No U.S. military personnel were harmed during the course of the operation.
This mission is part of an intensified maritime security strategy implemented by the United States to disrupt the flow of illegal substances from South and Central America. Since September 2025, under the administration of US President Donald Trump, American forces have targeted more than 50 vessels in the Pacific and Caribbean regions, resulting in approximately 170 fatalities among suspected traffickers. These operations underscore the strategic priority of the current administration to dismantle transnational criminal organizations and secure maritime borders through proactive military engagement.
