Forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations are continuously carrying out safety measures in flooded areas of Baku following intensive rainfall. According to information provided by the Operative Information Center-OMM, drainage operations and security protocols are currently underway in the Khazar, Sabunchu, Nizami, Binagadi, Sabail, and Garadagh districts of the capital, as well as in the Absheron district and along the Baku-Sumgait highway.
In the Keshla settlement of the Nizami district, a total of 58 citizens have been evacuated to safety after a malfunction in a local water collector caused significant flooding in residential areas. The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that Deputy Minister Lieutenant General Adil Abdullayev is currently on-site to oversee the operations. The response involves coordinated efforts from the Civil Defense Troops, State Fire Protection Service, Special Risky Rescue Service, State Service for Control over Small Ships and Water Rescue, and the Baku Regional Center.
Heavy seasonal rains in Azerbaijan often put pressure on the capital's drainage infrastructure, necessitating rapid intervention from emergency services to prevent property damage and ensure public safety. The Ministry of Emergency Situations continues to monitor the situation across the Absheron Peninsula, deploying specialized pumping equipment and rescue teams to the most affected zones to mitigate the impact of the inclement weather and restore normal traffic flow on major arteries like the Baku-Sumgait road.
