An earthquake has been recorded in the Caspian Sea, according to the latest data from the Seismological Service of Azerbaijan.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Earthquake Research Bureau of the Republican Seismic Survey Center under the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) confirmed the seismic activity. According to the center, the tremors measured a magnitude of 3.3, with an epicenter located at a depth of 63 kilometers.
The Caspian Sea region is known for its complex geological structure and frequent seismic activity. Azerbaijan, situated in a seismically active zone, maintains a robust network of monitoring stations managed by the Republican Seismic Survey Center to track and analyze tectonic movements in the region, ensuring public safety and providing critical data for infrastructure planning.
