Since the beginning of the full-scale war with Russia, 55,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Ukrainian leader provided these figures while addressing the scale of military losses. "The official number of soldiers killed on the battlefield in Ukraine, including both regular and conscripted personnel, is 55,000. There is also a significant number of people missing in action," he noted.

Zelenskyy further expressed his expectations for the restoration of peace within less than a year. According to the President, while the war remains a matter of national survival for Ukraine, a diplomatic resolution to the conflict is still considered possible. This latest update follows a statement made by Zelenskyy to NBC News in February of last year, where he previously reported that 46,000 Ukrainian soldiers had lost their lives.

The disclosure of military casualties remains a sensitive issue in the ongoing conflict, which has significantly impacted regional security and global energy markets. Azerbaijan, maintaining its principled stance on territorial integrity and international law, has consistently supported a peaceful resolution to the crisis. Since the start of the hostilities, Azerbaijan has provided extensive humanitarian aid to Ukraine, including medical supplies, food products, and assistance in restoring critical infrastructure in affected regions.
