Between June 8 and June 15, a total of 22 anti-tank mines, 29 anti-personnel mines, and 497 pieces of unexploded ordnance (UXO) were discovered and neutralized in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan.
According to the weekly report on humanitarian demining operations released by the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing the Azerbaijan National Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), 1,668.8 hectares of land have been successfully cleared of mines and explosive remnants of war.
Demining operations are being conducted by ANAMA, the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the State Border Service, and four private companies. These efforts are focused on the districts of Tartar, Aghdara, Kalbajar, Aghdam, Khojaly, Khankendi, Shusha, Khojavand, Lachin, Fuzuli, Jabrayil, Qubadli, and Zangilan, as well as the liberated villages of Baganis Ayrim, Ashaghi Askipara, Kheyrimli, and Gizilhajili in the Gazakh district.
The presence of landmines and unexploded ordnance remains one of the primary obstacles to the "Great Return" program, which aims to facilitate the safe resettlement of former internally displaced persons to their ancestral lands. Since the end of the 44-day Patriotic War in 2020, Azerbaijan has prioritized large-scale demining efforts to ensure the safety of infrastructure projects, residential construction, and agricultural development in the Garabagh and East Zangezur economic regions.
