Zira draws with Shamakhi in Misli Premier League

Another match of the 26th round of the Misli Premier League has been held in Azerbaijan.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Zira faced Shamakhi on their home turf. The encounter ended without a winner, resulting in a 1-1 draw.

The first half of the match remained goalless. The visitors were reduced to ten men in the 59th minute when Diego Balau was sent off with a direct red card. In the 66th minute, Zira defender Ruan Renato failed to convert a penalty. Despite this setback, the home side took the lead just three minutes later through a goal by Leroy Mikels. However, Shamakhi managed to equalize in the final moments of the game, with Edgar Adilkhanov scoring in the 90+2nd minute.

Following this result, Zira has moved to 43 points, maintaining 4th place in the league standings. Shamakhi remains in 8th place with 31 points. The Misli Premier League is the top-tier professional football competition in Azerbaijan, where clubs compete for the national title and spots in European continental tournaments.

In other matches of the 26th round, Gabala defeated Kapaz 2-0, Neftchi beat Sumgait 3-1, and Qarabag secured a convincing 7-0 victory over Karvan-Yevlakh. The match between Imishli and Turan Tovuz ended in a 1-1 draw. The round will conclude today with the match between Araz-Naxchivan and Sabah.
