Strengthening coordination among member states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), simplifying border and customs procedures, implementing digital solutions, and harmonizing tariff policies are of vital importance to further increase the competitiveness of the Middle Corridor.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Prime Minister Ali Asadov made these remarks during his speech at a meeting of heads of government and vice presidents of the member states of the Organization of Turkic States.
According to the Prime Minister, the realization of the Zangazur corridor is of great significance in this context: "The importance of this project is not limited only to ensuring unimpeded communication between the main part of Azerbaijan and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. This project also holds strategic importance in terms of uniting the entire Turkic world and opening new transport and communication opportunities for the wider region as a whole."
The Middle Corridor, formally known as the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), serves as a vital trade link between China and Europe, bypassing traditional northern routes. By integrating the Zangazur corridor into this network, Azerbaijan aims to solidify its position as a central logistics hub in Eurasia. This initiative is expected to significantly reduce transit times and costs, fostering deeper economic integration among Turkic-speaking nations and enhancing regional stability through increased commercial cooperation.
