Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has stated that there is significant support within Armenian society for the continuation of relations with Russia and participation in Eurasian integration structures.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, Zakharova made these remarks during an interview with Sputnik Radio.

Zakharova emphasized that cooperation within Eurasian integration blocs provides Armenia with real, tangible benefits, contrasting this with what she described as "empty promises" from other actors. "There is a clear demand within Armenian society for the progressive development of Russian-Armenian relations and for Armenia's continued participation in Eurasian integration structures, which provide real, palpable benefits," she stated.

The diplomat noted that public support for bilateral relations between Russia and Armenia is rooted in the practical outcomes of this cooperation. She argued that this perspective is driven by concrete results rather than political manipulation. "People see these results, appreciate them, and support the further development of relations," she added.

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is an international organization for regional economic integration, established in 2015, which includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. It aims to create a common market for goods, services, capital, and labor. While the Kremlin has previously acknowledged that Armenia's aspirations regarding integration with the European Union are a sovereign right, it has consistently emphasized that such moves must not contradict Armenia's existing obligations within the EAEU framework.
