YouTube has blocked a channel belonging to the pro-Iranian media group "Explosive Media" for violating the platform's community guidelines.
The Operative Information Center-OMM, citing Le Figaro, reports that the decision was finalized following the dissemination of satirical videos featuring US President Donald Trump. The channel gained notoriety for using artificial intelligence and Lego-style characters to create provocative political content.
The ban was implemented shortly after the channel published a video mocking US President Donald Trump and declaring an Iranian victory. The content reportedly featured depictions of missile strikes and military hardware. These videos had garnered millions of views, primarily targeting English-speaking audiences outside of Iran.
Despite the YouTube ban, Explosive Media continues its operations on other social media platforms, including X and Telegram. It was previously reported that the group's accounts were also removed from Instagram, owned by Meta. While Explosive Media has denied allegations of direct links to the Iranian government, characterizing such claims as "media distortion," the platform's moderators cited violations of policies regarding harassment and sensitive content.
This incident highlights the increasing use of AI-generated media in psychological operations and digital diplomacy. Major tech platforms have recently intensified their efforts to combat foreign influence campaigns and the spread of misinformation, particularly content that utilizes deepfake technology or stylized animation to bypass traditional moderation filters. The removal of such channels is part of a broader strategy by global tech giants to maintain platform integrity amid heightened geopolitical tensions.
