Speed limits have been reduced on several major roads in Baku due to adverse weather conditions, with "slippery road" warnings activated on electronic displays.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the Intelligent Transport Management Center (ITMC) has issued a statement regarding the safety measures taken in response to the rainy weather in the capital.

According to the center, the speed limit on the Zigh Circle-Airport highway has been reduced by 20 km/h. Similarly, on the road stretching from Heydar Aliyev Avenue to the Mardakan bridge, the speed limit across all lanes has also been lowered by 20 km/h to ensure the safety of motorists. "In connection with this, employees of the MIA's Intelligent Transport Management Center have updated the information boards. At the same time, a 'slippery road' sign has been displayed on all electronic monitors. Drivers are requested to comply with the established speed limits," the statement noted.

The reduction of speed limits during rainy weather is a standard safety protocol in Azerbaijan to prevent traffic accidents caused by hydroplaning and reduced visibility. The Intelligent Transport Management Center, operating under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, continuously monitors traffic flow and weather conditions in Baku via a network of cameras and sensors to manage urban mobility and enhance road safety during seasonal transitions.
