Microchip giant Nvidia has reported another significant surge in sales, underscoring its pivotal role in the global artificial intelligence infrastructure.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing international media reports, the company’s revenue for the second quarter more than doubled compared to the same period last year, reaching $96 billion.
Nvidia has projected a revenue of $108 billion for the upcoming quarter. Jensen Huang, the company’s CEO, stated that artificial intelligence has reached a critical turning point, with infrastructure investments in the sector continuing to accelerate rapidly.
Following the announcement, Nvidia shares rose by 4.7 percent in after-hours trading. The company’s data center division, a key driver of this growth, generated $89 billion in revenue during the reporting period—a 117 percent increase year-over-year. This performance highlights the heavy reliance of the broader AI sector on Nvidia’s specialized hardware.
Major technology corporations, including Amazon, Meta, Google, and Microsoft, remain heavily dependent on Nvidia chips to power their AI tools and infrastructure. Financial analysts have praised the results, with Matt Britzman, lead equity analyst at Hargreaves Lansdown, noting that the revenue and profit figures surpassed market expectations.
Beyond hardware, Nvidia is expanding its influence by providing financial support to companies that rely on its technology, such as OpenAI, Anthropic, and SpaceX, thereby facilitating the development of costly AI infrastructure. While competition from alternative suppliers and in-house processor development by clients persists, these latest financial results demonstrate that Nvidia continues to maintain its dominant market position, with a valuation exceeding $5 trillion.
