Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Iotova has sent a congratulatory letter to President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on the occasion of the country's Independence Day.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the letter reads:
"Dear Mr. President,
Please accept my congratulations and best wishes on the occasion of the Independence Day of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to me and my delegation during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum held in Baku. We were left with very positive impressions of the session, which was attended by more than 10 mayors of Bulgarian municipalities, as well as representatives of Bulgarian higher education institutions. At the same time, I would like to emphasize my satisfaction with our second bilateral meeting within three months. This is proof of the intensive political dialogue at the highest level between our countries.
I fully share your view that the positive political dynamics in our relations should be translated into mutually beneficial practical results and projects. I believe that the implementation of the agreements reached during our discussions on cooperation in the energy sector, the increase in the supply of Azerbaijani natural gas to Bulgarian companies, as well as the discussed potential of a second energy corridor for the transmission of "green energy" by land between Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey, and Bulgaria, are necessary investments in today's world, which is shaken by conflicts and instability. Intensifying partnership relations in the field of industrial zones and technology parks, as well as expanding ties in the fields of education and culture between our peoples, are also important priority areas for Bulgaria.
It would be an honor for me to host you in Bulgaria and to jointly open the "Shusha Park" in the city of Veliko Tarnovo as a bright symbol of our friendly relations.
Hoping to have the opportunity to welcome Your Excellency to Bulgaria in the near future, I wish you and your family good health and even greater success in your high state activities."
Background: Azerbaijan and Bulgaria maintain a strategic partnership, particularly in the energy sector, which has become increasingly vital for European energy security. The cooperation includes the supply of Azerbaijani natural gas to Bulgaria via the Interconnector Greece-Bulgaria (IGB) and ongoing discussions regarding the expansion of green energy corridors connecting the Caspian region to Southeast Europe.
