On August 23, an official welcoming ceremony was held for President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev at the Kuksaroy State Residence in Tashkent.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, a guard of honor was lined up in the square where the national flags of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were displayed in honor of President Ilham Aliyev.
President Ilham Aliyev was welcomed by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The national anthems of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan were played, and the head of the guard of honor reported to the Azerbaijani President. The two leaders then inspected the guard of honor.
Following the inspection, the state and government officials of Uzbekistan were introduced to President Ilham Aliyev, while the members of the Azerbaijani delegation were introduced to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. The guard of honor marched past the presidents to the sounds of a military march, after which the heads of state posed for an official photograph.
This visit marks a significant milestone in the deepening bilateral relations between Baku and Tashkent. Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan have consistently strengthened their ties in recent years, focusing on trade, energy, and cultural cooperation. The strategic partnership between the two nations is rooted in shared historical and cultural bonds, which have been revitalized through high-level diplomatic exchanges and joint economic initiatives aimed at regional stability and development.
