A shooting incident occurred during the traditional "Bite of Seattle" food festival in Seattle, Washington, resulting in multiple casualties.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, citing international media reports, the attack left two people dead and five others injured.
Grace Nunes, a spokesperson for the Seattle Fire Department, stated that the incident took place around 6:00 p.m. local time near the city's iconic Space Needle observation tower. Two victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while the five injured individuals were transported to Harborview Medical Center. Susan Gregg, a spokesperson for the hospital, confirmed that the victims suffered gunshot wounds to their arms, abdomens, and legs, and are currently receiving medical treatment.
Following the attack, law enforcement and emergency medical teams were immediately dispatched to the area, and the festival grounds were evacuated. Washington State Governor Bob Ferguson announced that special units from the state patrol have been deployed to assist local police in the investigation. It remains unclear whether the perpetrator has been apprehended.
The "Bite of Seattle," first established in 1982, is a prominent three-day culinary event that typically draws approximately 350,000 attendees annually. The festival is widely recognized as one of the Pacific Northwest's largest public gatherings, highlighting the region's diverse food culture.
