Bill Pulti, the acting director of the US Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), has announced the commencement of a new wave of staff reductions within the agency.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the official announcement was made via Pulti's account on the X social media platform.
"The US intelligence community is operating with greater efficiency and productivity than at any time in its history. Today, we have initiated the third phase of staff reductions, targeting positions that are considered redundant or secondary in function," Pulti stated. He did not, however, disclose the specific number of personnel affected by these measures.
This development follows previous rounds of staffing adjustments within the US intelligence sector. According to reports published by CNN in June, US President Donald Trump anticipated significant personnel changes when he appointed Pulti to lead the agency on an acting basis, with expectations that the restructuring would involve the dismissal of hundreds of employees.
The US intelligence community, a coalition of 18 separate government agencies and organizations, plays a critical role in national security by collecting and analyzing information to support foreign policy and defense decisions. These ongoing structural reforms reflect a broader effort by the current administration to optimize federal agency performance and reduce bureaucratic overhead.
