Two oil tankers have been disabled after striking mines while navigating an unauthorized route in the Strait of Hormuz, according to reports from international media outlets.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the incident has drawn a formal response from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
In an official statement, the IRGC asserted: "Two oil tankers operated by US agents struck mines in the Strait of Hormuz and were disabled." The statement further noted that the vessels had attempted to traverse an unauthorized path instead of utilizing the safe, designated transit corridors established by Iran. The collision resulted in fires breaking out on both ships, forcing the crews to evacuate.
The IRGC emphasized that the Iranian Armed Forces remain committed to maintaining strict control over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical maritime chokepoint. This incident follows reports from September 1, which indicated an exchange of strikes between the US and Iran, resulting in casualties within Iran.
