Naxçıvanın turizm strategiyasında gözlənilən vacib yeniliklər

A new development strategy is currently being drafted to revitalize the tourism potential of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. The initiative aims to modernize the region's recreational offerings and attract a broader range of visitors.

According to Operative Information Center-OMM, Florian Sengstschmid, Chairman of the Board of the Azerbaijan Tourism Bureau under the State Tourism Agency, announced the plans during the event titled "Unlocking Azerbaijan's tourism potential to ensure economic growth and diversification" held in Baku.

Sengstschmid emphasized that while Nakhchivan remains a vital tourism destination, a fresh strategic approach is required to fully leverage its unique assets. "Nakhchivan must be brought back into the spotlight from a strategic perspective. It is essential to identify target markets and develop tourism products tailored to those specific audiences," he stated. He added that the new approach will focus on efficient resource utilization, increasing tourist inflows, and establishing the region as a premier destination within Azerbaijan. These initiatives are expected to be integrated into the upcoming state program for the development of the country's tourism sector.

Nakhchivan, an exclave of Azerbaijan, is renowned for its rich historical heritage, unique climate, and health tourism facilities, such as the Duzdag salt mines and the scenic Batabat and Aghbulag areas. The region's development is a priority for the government, which seeks to integrate its natural and cultural landmarks into the broader national tourism network, thereby boosting regional economic growth.
