A 47-year-old resident has been detained in the Masalli district on suspicion of illegally cultivating cannabis plants along a riverbank.
According to information provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the operation was conducted by officers from the Masalli District Police Department.
Authorities reported that Babak Samadov was apprehended after police discovered 95 cannabis plants that he had been cultivating and tending to using agrotechnical methods in a riverside area. A criminal case has been initiated regarding the incident, and by court decision, a pre-trial detention measure has been imposed on Samadov.
The cultivation of narcotic plants is a serious criminal offense under the legislation of the Republic of Azerbaijan. Law enforcement agencies in the country, including the Ministry of Internal Affairs, frequently conduct specialized operations to combat drug trafficking and the illegal production of narcotic substances to ensure public safety and uphold the rule of law.
