Mayda 14 gün iş olmayacaq

Similar to the month of March, Azerbaijan will observe a high number of non-working days in May 2026 due to a series of national holidays and religious celebrations.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that according to the labor time norms and the production calendar for 2026, the month will feature significant breaks for Victory Day over Fascism on May 9, Gurban Bayram on May 27-28, and Independence Day on May 28.

Since Victory Day over Fascism on May 9 falls on a Saturday, the following Monday, May 11, will be a non-working day in accordance with the Labor Code. Consequently, there will be three consecutive days off from May 9 to May 11.

Notably, May will see a rare overlap of two major occasions: Gurban Bayram and Independence Day. Under the Labor Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, when public holidays coincide, the following workday is designated as a day off. Therefore, May 29 will also be a non-working day. This creates an extended holiday period including May 27, 28, and 29, followed by the weekend of May 30-31.

In total, there will be 14 non-working days in Azerbaijan during May, including weekends. The first official workday following the end-of-month holidays will be June 1.

The scheduling of these holidays is governed by the Cabinet of Ministers, which ensures the alignment of the national production calendar with the Labor Code. These public holidays reflect Azerbaijan's commitment to honoring its historical milestones, such as the 1945 victory in World War II and the restoration of national sovereignty, alongside the observance of significant religious traditions in the Islamic world.
