Kuwait's Ministry of Interior has announced the detention of a group of individuals who attempted to enter the country illegally by sea and subsequently confessed to being affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the information was released by the state news agency KUNA.
According to the ministry, the detainees stated they were attempting to enter Kuwait using a rented fishing vessel with the intent of carrying out hostile actions against the state. The official statement noted that an armed confrontation occurred during the security operation, resulting in one Kuwaiti serviceman being wounded, while two suspects managed to escape the scene.
Bubiyan Island, situated in the northeastern part of the country near the border with Iraq, is a strategically significant region. The Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense had previously reported the prevention of another maritime infiltration attempt involving four individuals. While Kuwait has heightened its security protocols, Iranian authorities have not yet issued an official response to these claims.
Regional security in the Persian Gulf remains a sensitive issue, with Kuwait frequently coordinating with its Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) partners to monitor maritime borders. Such incidents often escalate diplomatic tensions in the region, particularly concerning the activities of the IRGC in neighboring territorial waters. Kuwait continues to maintain a vigilant stance to ensure the stability and territorial integrity of the state.
