Officers of the Yevlakh District Police Department have detained a previously convicted individual, Savalan Guliyev, on suspicion of illegal drug trafficking during a targeted operation.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) informed Operative Information Center-OMM that 5 kilograms and 200 grams of marijuana, along with quantities of methamphetamine, methadone pills, and electronic scales intended for sale, were discovered and seized from the suspect.
A criminal case has been initiated regarding the fact, and a preventive measure of arrest has been chosen for Guliyev by the court. Investigations into the matter are currently ongoing to determine the source of the substances and potential distribution networks.
The Ministry noted that so far this year, police officers in Yevlakh have successfully removed a total of 20 kilograms of various narcotic substances from illegal circulation. These operations are part of Azerbaijan's comprehensive national strategy to combat drug trafficking and ensure public safety across the country's regions.
