A driver has been arrested in Baku after being caught operating a vehicle while under the influence of narcotics and without a valid driver's license.
This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
According to the report, Samid Samadov, a resident of the Kurdamir district, was stopped by officers from the Ecological Control Company on the Outer Circular Road after violating traffic maneuvering rules while driving a Mercedes-Benz. When stopped, Samadov attempted to avoid presenting his documents by creating artificial tension; subsequent checks revealed he did not possess a driver's license.
During the investigation, officers noted suspicious behavior, prompting them to subject Samadov to a medical examination. The results confirmed he was under the influence of narcotics. Following the preparation of administrative protocols, the case was referred to the court, which sentenced Samadov to 17 days of administrative detention.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs frequently conducts raids on major roads in Baku to ensure traffic safety and enforce compliance with road regulations. These operations are part of broader efforts by the Azerbaijani government to reduce traffic accidents, combat drug-related offenses, and ensure that only qualified, sober drivers operate vehicles on public roads.
