A fire broke out in a high-rise residential building located on T. Abbasov Street in the Nizami district of Baku, prompting an immediate response from emergency services.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations told Operative Information Center-OMM that the ministry's "112" hotline received an urgent call regarding the blaze. Units from the State Fire Protection Service and the Special Risky Rescue Service were immediately dispatched to the scene to combat the flames and ensure public safety.
Upon arrival and assessment of the operational situation, it was determined that the fire originated in a three-room apartment on the 15th floor of an 18-story residential building. Due to the height and density of the building, there was a significant risk of the fire spreading to adjacent apartments. However, thanks to the swift intervention of the firefighting crews, the blaze was contained and extinguished in a short period, preventing further expansion.
The fire damaged 50 square meters of the 71-square-meter apartment. During the operation, rescuers saved one individual who had sustained injuries and handed them over to an emergency medical team for treatment. Additionally, eight other residents were safely evacuated from the premises. The remainder of the apartment and neighboring units were protected from the fire.
In Azerbaijan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations is the central executive body responsible for protecting the population from natural and man-made disasters. The ministry frequently conducts safety inspections and public awareness campaigns to prevent such incidents in high-density urban areas like Baku, where rapid urban development has increased the number of multi-story residential complexes.
