An expanded board meeting of the Ministry of Culture regarding its activities for 2025 has been held in Baku. The Ministry of Culture informed the Operative Information Center-OMM that the session focused on strategic reforms and the implementation of state programs aimed at modernizing the nation's cultural infrastructure.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Culture Adil Kerimli, members of the board, Chairman of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly) Culture Committee Polad Bulbuloghlu, committee members, heads of higher education institutions, creative organizations, and prominent cultural figures. Minister Adil Kerimli provided a detailed report on the ministry's activities over the past year, highlighting the systematic implementation of tasks set by President Ilham Aliyev. He emphasized the necessity of aligning cultural institutions with modern global challenges and continuing reforms in management and service delivery.
A central point of discussion was the "Azerbaijan Culture – 2040" Concept, approved by the January 14, 2026, decree of President Ilham Aliyev. Minister Kerimli noted that this historic document serves as a strategic roadmap for forming a modern cultural model based on national identity. The concept focuses on human capital development, strengthening the economic potential of creative industries, digitalization, and expanding Azerbaijan's cultural diplomacy. Reports were also heard from Deputy Ministers Farid Jafarov and Murad Huseynov, as well as officials from the State Service of Cultural Heritage and the Azerbaijan Cinema Agency, covering topics from the "Great Return" to liberated territories to museum and theater reforms.
The Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan is the central executive body responsible for the implementation of state policy in the fields of culture, art, tourism, and the protection of historical and cultural monuments. In recent years, the ministry has prioritized the restoration of cultural heritage in the Garabagh region and the integration of digital technologies into the country's library and museum networks to enhance accessibility for both local citizens and the international community.
