Law enforcement officers in Baku's Garadagh district have seized a large quantity of narcotics following a series of successful operations. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), which provided details to the Operative Information Center-OMM, a total of 66 kilograms of various drugs were removed from illegal circulation.

During the primary operation conducted by the Garadagh District Police Department, 43-year-old Akbar Aliyev was detained. Authorities discovered and seized 21.302 kg of marijuana, 496 grams of opium, and 50 methadone pills, a potent psychotropic substance, in his possession. In a subsequent raid, 39-year-old Elkhan Bandaliyev, a resident of the capital, was apprehended with 23.975 kg of marijuana.

The final phase of the operation in the Lokbatan settlement led to the arrest of 32-year-old Yunis Mammadov, 32-year-old Nazir Taghiyev, and 34-year-old Urfan Mammadli. These individuals were found with 20.250 kg of marijuana, which they reportedly intended to distribute across various locations in Baku. Official reports confirm that criminal cases have been initiated regarding these incidents, and necessary investigative measures are currently underway.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan continues to prioritize the fight against drug trafficking as part of its national security strategy. These operations are part of a broader effort to prevent the transit and local distribution of illegal substances within the country. Azerbaijan's strategic location often makes it a target for international drug trafficking routes, prompting the MIA and the State Security Service to maintain high levels of vigilance and cooperation with international partners to safeguard the public.
