Azerishig OJSC has announced temporary power supply interruptions in parts of Baku and Sumgait on August 21, citing the need for essential maintenance work to enhance grid quality and meet rising electricity demand. The utility provider confirmed that upgrades will be conducted at several transformer substations to ensure long-term network stability.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Yasamal District Energy Supply and Sales Department will implement restrictions from 10:00 to 13:00 on Izmir, Nariman Narimanov, and Matbuat streets. Additionally, the Narimanov district will experience outages from 09:00 to 13:00, affecting areas near Vladimir Mayakovsky and Ismayil Hidayatzade streets, as well as the vicinity of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine Arts. In Sumgait, maintenance at the 35/10/6 kV "Nubar" substation will cause power interruptions from 10:00 to 17:00 in the Ashagi Guzdek settlement and parts of the Atyali residential area.
These planned maintenance activities are part of a broader infrastructure modernization program aimed at strengthening the national power grid. By upgrading aging equipment and substations, Azerishig OJSC seeks to minimize technical losses and prevent unplanned outages, ultimately providing more reliable and high-quality electricity service to consumers across Azerbaijan.
