The Main Department for Combating Narcotics of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Azerbaijan has conducted a series of successful operations in Baku and various regions, resulting in the seizure of 46 kilograms of illicit drugs and 2,087 psychotropic pills.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the Ministry of Internal Affairs released an official statement regarding the crackdown on organized drug trafficking networks.

During the operations, law enforcement officers apprehended nine individuals identified as 37-year-old Muzadil Mammadov, 35-year-old Kamran Mammadov, 40-year-old Khanim Gardashova, 43-year-old Rovshan Nasirov, 42-year-old Farid Nazarov, 26-year-old Orkhan Abbasov, 27-year-old Eyyub Mammadov, 43-year-old Abdulla Mammadov, and 36-year-old Museyib Hasanov.

Authorities confiscated a substantial cache of illegal substances, including marijuana, heroin, opium, hashish, and high-potency cocaine, along with 2,087 psychotropic tablets such as methadone and ecstasy. Additionally, police seized electronic scales and 55,270 manats in cash, believed to be proceeds from the illicit trade. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects were operating under the direction of foreign drug traffickers to facilitate the distribution of narcotics within Azerbaijan.

Criminal cases have been initiated regarding these incidents. The court has ordered pretrial detention for all nine suspects, and comprehensive investigations are currently ongoing to identify further connections within the criminal network.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Azerbaijan frequently conducts such large-scale operations as part of the state's ongoing commitment to combating drug trafficking and ensuring public safety. These efforts are critical in curbing the influence of transnational criminal groups attempting to utilize the country as a transit route or market for illegal substances.
