Employees of the State Customs Committee’s Air Transport Main Customs Office and the Aviation Security Service of Heydar Aliyev International Airport have intercepted a significant quantity of illegal narcotics during joint inspection measures.
This information was provided to the Operative Information Center-OMM by the State Customs Committee.
According to the official statement, customs officers conducted a search of an Azerbaijani citizen scheduled to depart on a flight from Baku to Tbilisi. During the inspection, authorities discovered 15.849 grams of cocaine, which had been concealed from customs control.
Following the initial discovery, law enforcement officials conducted a follow-up search of the suspect's rented residence. This operation resulted in the seizure of additional illicit substances, including approximately 16 grams of dried marijuana, 2.440 grams of cannabis seeds, and two tablets containing psychotropic substances.
Heydar Aliyev International Airport, the primary gateway to Azerbaijan, maintains rigorous security protocols to prevent the trafficking of illicit goods. The State Customs Committee frequently conducts such operations to ensure border security and public safety. An investigation into the incident is currently underway.
