Cases of illegal tree felling have been uncovered in the cities of Baku and Ganja, as well as the Zagatala, Qakh, and Qabala districts, during monitoring activities conducted by the State Environmental Security Service over the past week.

According to information provided by the Service to the Operative Information Center-OMM, investigations revealed significant environmental damage at multiple locations. These include Xudu Mammadov and Najafgulu Rafiyev streets in the Khatai district, Hasan bey Zardabi street in the Yasamal district, the intersection of Samad Vurgun street and Vagif avenue in the Nasimi district, and Shagan settlement in the Khazar district of Baku. Similar violations were documented on Mubariz Ibrahimov street in Ganja, Aliabad settlement in Zagatala, Alibeyli village in Qakh, and Tuntul village and Nij settlement in Qabala. The total damage to greenery is estimated at 149,520 manats.

Since the scale of the damage in each case constitutes a criminal offense, the collected materials have been submitted to law enforcement agencies for a legal assessment. In Azerbaijan, the protection of the environment and the preservation of urban greenery are strictly regulated by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. The State Environmental Security Service regularly conducts raids to prevent the destruction of the country's flora and ensures that individuals or legal entities responsible for such ecological violations are held accountable under the Criminal Code and the Code of Administrative Offenses.
