The Food Safety Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (AQTA) has identified serious regulatory violations in weight-loss products, including teas, coffees, and capsules, marketed and sold through social media platforms. Laboratory tests confirmed the presence of sibutramine, a hazardous substance prohibited for use in food products due to its severe health risks.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the agency conducted monitoring of several Instagram accounts, including "Slimluxcoffee_ariqladici_kofe," "Vellara.baku," and "Spirulina_azerbaijan_official." The analysis revealed that products such as "SLT Slim Lux Coffee Premium," "Good Lux Green Coffee," and "Vellara Form Tea" contained sibutramine. The agency has initiated legal proceedings and notified law enforcement authorities to address these illegal sales.

Sibutramine is a controlled substance known to increase the risk of cardiovascular diseases, including heart attacks and strokes, and can cause severe psychiatric disorders. While these products were reportedly imported into Azerbaijan under the guise of personal use, they were subsequently sold illegally online. The Food Safety Agency has formally requested that the relevant authorities in the countries of origin implement bans on the export of these hazardous items to Azerbaijan.
