Azerbaijan has approved new legislative amendments to provide military personnel with personal identification tags (dog tags) during their service.
According to Operative Information Center-OMM, the draft amendments to the "Regulations on Military Service" and the Law "On Military Duty and Military Service" were discussed and approved in the third reading during today's plenary session of the Milli Majlis (National Assembly).
Under the new legislation, servicemen will be provided with personal dog tags by the state bodies and structures in which they serve. The initiative aims to ensure the rapid identification of military personnel and the timely provision of medical assistance, particularly regarding blood type information, during combat operations or emergencies. This mechanism aligns Azerbaijan's military procedures with widely accepted international standards.
Additionally, a new article 9.4 has been proposed for the Law "On Military Duty and Military Service" to improve the legal regulation of pre-conscription training. The amendment envisages that the regulations for organizing and conducting pre-conscription training for youth will be determined by the relevant executive authority, enhancing management flexibility and coordination between state bodies.
