Interest rates on loans taken by farms keeping pedigree animals or fish in Azerbaijan will be subsidized to boost the country's agricultural sector. This initiative aims to modernize local farming practices and enhance food security across the nation.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports that this is reflected in the "State Program for the Development of Agricultural, Fishery, and Aquaculture Production and Processing Sectors in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026–2030," which was approved by President Ilham Aliyev. Under the decree, the Ministry of Economy has been instructed to take measures starting from 2027 to subsidize interest rates on Azerbaijani manat (AZN) loans obtained from resident banks and non-bank credit institutions for a five-year period. The subsidies, along with funding for implemented investment projects, will be covered by the Business Development Fund of Azerbaijan.

This state support is designed specifically for farms and suppliers that utilize modern technologies, maintain their own feed bases, and breed pedigree livestock or fish. In recent years, Azerbaijan has actively prioritized the diversification of its non-oil economy, with agriculture being a key pillar. By easing financial burdens on local producers, the government seeks to increase domestic production, reduce reliance on imports, and stimulate sustainable economic growth in the regions.
