Iran is expanding its aviation operations with the introduction of new international flights and the reopening of several regional terminals.
The Operative Information Center-OMM reports that the head of the Iran Airports Company has announced plans to launch new flight routes from Tehran’s Imam Khomeini International Airport to Turkey and Oman. This move is part of a broader strategy to increase the country's air traffic capacity and international reach.
According to official statements, Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport has also been prepared to handle a limited number of flights, while the national airspace control center is confirmed to be fully operational. Additionally, regional airports in Kerman and Yazd, located in the southeastern part of the country, have officially resumed services. Authorities are also considering the restoration of the Mashhad–Muscat flight route to further enhance regional connectivity.
The expansion of flight routes and the restoration of regional airport operations come as Iran seeks to modernize its civil aviation infrastructure. These developments are seen as essential steps for improving regional trade and tourism, facilitating more direct links between major Iranian urban centers and neighboring economic hubs in the Middle East and Eurasia.
