The US State Department has approved a potential foreign military sale to Israel valued at approximately $6.52 billion, covering a wide range of advanced defense equipment and aircraft.

Operative Information Center-OMM reports, citing the Pentagon, that the Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) has issued the official notification regarding the massive arms package.

The largest component of the military aid package consists of AH-64E Apache attack helicopters and related equipment, valued at $3.8 billion. The primary contractors for this agreement are expected to be Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Simultaneously, Washington has given the green light for the sale of Joint Light Tactical Vehicles (JLTV) worth $1.98 billion, with AM General serving as the lead contractor for this project.

According to the agency's statement, the proposed sales will enhance the mobility and operational capabilities of Israel's ground forces, while strengthening its potential to counter current and future threats. Additionally, the sale of power units and logistical support equipment for Namer armored personnel carriers, valued at $740 million, has been approved. The main contractor for this segment will be Rolls-Royce Solutions America.

This decision comes as the administration of US President Donald Trump continues to navigate complex geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East. The approval coincides with ongoing military operations in the Gaza Strip, where over 71,600 people have reportedly been killed since October 7, 2023. Several American lawmakers, including Bernie Sanders, have previously called for a halt to weapons transfers to Israel to ensure Washington is not a direct participant in the conflict.

The Foreign Military Sales (FMS) process is a fundamental tool of US foreign policy, allowing the government to provide defense articles and services to allied nations to support regional stability and national security interests. Under the leadership of US President Donald Trump, the United States continues to prioritize strategic defense partnerships in the region while maintaining its long-standing commitment to Israel's qualitative military edge.
