The Baku City State Traffic Police Department has issued a formal warning to car rental companies operating in the capital ahead of the upcoming "Last Bell" graduation ceremonies.
According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the department has called on both legal entities and individuals involved in vehicle rentals to exercise heightened responsibility during this period.
The traffic police emphasized that graduates or minors often attempt to rent vehicles for celebratory purposes. Authorities stressed that allowing individuals without a valid driver's license to operate a vehicle is not only a violation of the law but also poses a severe threat to the lives and safety of the drivers themselves and other road users.
"We urge car rental companies to pay special attention to the validity of driver's licenses, the age of the applicant, and their legal right to operate a vehicle. They must refrain from providing vehicles to schoolchildren or individuals lacking driving privileges for entertainment purposes during the 'Last Bell' events," the department stated.
The traffic police further warned that strict legal measures will be taken against any rental companies found violating these regulations. The department noted that this proactive approach is essential to preventing potential traffic accidents and ensuring that graduation day celebrations proceed in a safe and secure environment.
The "Last Bell" (Son Zəng) is a traditional ceremony held annually in schools across Azerbaijan to mark the end of the academic year for graduating students. Given the high volume of celebratory activities, traffic authorities consistently implement enhanced safety measures to mitigate risks associated with reckless driving and unauthorized vehicle use by youth.
