A positive decision is expected tomorrow regarding the 90 billion euro loan for Ukraine, which has been blocked by Hungary, according to the European Union's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas.

As reported by the Operative Information Center-OMM, Kallas emphasized that Ukraine is in urgent need of this credit. She noted that providing this financial support would simultaneously send a critical message to Russia regarding the EU's continued commitment to Kyiv. The Hungarian government had previously declared its intention to block the 90 billion euro EU loan until oil supplies to the country via the "Druzhba" pipeline are fully restored.

The High Representative also highlighted that the situation in the Middle East remains a primary agenda item, with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam expected to attend the upcoming meetings. Kallas reminded that the mandate of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) is set to expire at the end of this year, stating, "We will discuss what more we can do as Europe."

In response to questions regarding US President Donald Trump's statements concerning potential threats to Iran's civilian infrastructure, Kallas noted that the EU is working actively with regional partners. "They know Iran best, and this is important to strengthen the position of the representatives at the negotiating table. The ceasefire is very fragile, but diplomacy must be given a chance. Therefore, I hope the ceasefire will be extended until a diplomatic solution is found," she added. Kallas also confirmed that developments in the occupied West Bank would be part of the official discussions.

The 90 billion euro package represents a significant portion of the EU's long-term financial commitment to Ukraine's recovery and defense efforts. Such macro-financial assistance programs are designed to help candidate and partner countries maintain economic stability during periods of intense geopolitical conflict, while the "Druzhba" pipeline remains a sensitive point of energy security for several Central European member states.
