The Ambassador of Ukraine to Azerbaijan, Yuriy Husyev, has expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev and the people of Azerbaijan for their solidarity and concrete steps taken to support the reconstruction of Ukraine.

According to the Operative Information Center-OMM, the diplomat shared these remarks on social media following a meeting where he presented the President with the certificate of honorary citizenship of the city of Irpin.

"Mr. President, we thank you and all of Azerbaijan for your solidarity and the concrete steps taken to support and rebuild Ukraine," the diplomat stated.

Husyev emphasized that the decision to grant the title of "Honorary Citizen of Irpin" to Ilham Aliyev was adopted by the Irpin City Council on April 30, 2026. This gesture serves as recognition of the support provided by the Azerbaijani President and the nation to the Irpin community since the early days of the Russia-Ukraine war and following the city's liberation.

"Azerbaijan has become one of the key partners in the reconstruction of Irpin. With Azerbaijan's support, the 'Linguist' humanitarian lyceum and a diagnostic polyclinic in Irpin have already been restored," Husyev noted.

Looking ahead, the ambassador highlighted upcoming large-scale projects, including residential construction, the restoration of a sports school and the Central House of Culture, as well as the creation of a modern art center. He stressed that granting honorary citizenship to President Ilham Aliyev symbolizes the deep friendship between the Ukrainian and Azerbaijani peoples.

Azerbaijan has consistently provided humanitarian aid to Ukraine since the onset of the conflict, focusing on infrastructure restoration and medical support, reflecting the strategic partnership between Baku and Kyiv.
