At least six people were killed and 14 others sustained various injuries following two severe traffic accidents in Afghanistan's eastern Ghazni province late Saturday night.
Operative Information Center-OMM reports that Khalid Sarhadi, the official spokesperson for the provincial police, released this information on Sunday. According to the official statement, the victims of the dual incidents include women and children, highlighting the severity of the collisions.
While the specific causes of these accidents remain under investigation, road safety in Afghanistan is frequently compromised by poorly maintained infrastructure, reckless driving habits, and the aging condition of vehicles. Ghazni province, situated along the major highway connecting the capital Kabul with the southern city of Kandahar, often records high rates of traffic-related fatalities due to heavy transit and challenging road conditions. Local authorities are currently conducting a full inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the latest tragedies.
